Team Building

Team Building that works and achieves your desired outcomes and you can access our group specials on your tour.

Need an exceptional team building activity for your company or corporate? Auckland Sea Kayaks specialises in running kayak adventures for groups that are fun, safe and affordable. We have worked with teams like Abu Dhabi Ocean racing (winners of the 2014/15 Volvo Ocean Race), Fonterra, Spark and Coca-Cola Amatil to deliver a custom programme that suits their requirements. If it’s to entertain, educate, for general fitness or to grow your team, we can help.

Our guides are skilled and experienced sea kayakers with a personal commitment to marine conservation. They are all trained in various types of activities which we use to enhance social relationships within your team. Our activities also help define leadership roles within teams and can provide creative new ways to approach collaboration.

Choose sea kayaking for a unique way to get your team outdoors doing something active together. It is an easy sport to pick up and most people who come kayaking with us have not kayaked before. Our qualified instructors provide full safety briefings before every session and will teach your staff the correct paddling techniques so you’re an expert before you hit the water.

Taking your staff off-site and involving them in something which is different and fun can have many benefits.

  • Networking, socializing, and getting to know each other better.

Socializing and making friends in the workplace is one of the best ways to increase productivity in the office.

  • Teamwork and boosting team performance.

Team bonding activities can also improve workplace projects. Learning to understand each other better and work together is vital to team success.

  • Competition and bragging rights.

Competition has been shown to increase production. So, by channeling that increased production into a fun, inclusive team building activity, employees can bond while providing some extra content for office banter.

  • Celebration, team spirit, fun, and motivation.

After any sports team wins a major championship, they celebrate and have fun. This motivates them to want to win even more.

  • Collaboration and the fostering of innovation and creativity.

People tend to have a larger imagination when they are around people they are comfortable with. So, successful team building events not only bring people closer together but they also lead to more successful and creative workplace ideas.

  • Improved communication

To no surprise, communication and working better together is the top reason why people choose team building. Everybody wants a friendly work environment, where people are comfortable and happy talking to each other.

Our adventure techniques result in high levels of involvement, insight and finally the opportunity for change and improvement. The activities require participants to focus on using skills such as planning, analysing, organising and communicating.

Auckland Sea Kayaks presents ‘Workday Warrior’ or ‘Weekend Warrior’

This is the ultimate way to start your day and builds your team along the way. Meet in the morning (earlier the better) at St Heliers and after a safety briefing we set out across the Waitemata Harbor to Auckland’s youngest and largest volcano. This is the icon of the Auckland region and the perfect distance for a “Workday Warrior”.

After approx 45min paddle we arrive at Rangitoto and slip on our running shoes for a 40min run gaining 271 meters to the summit. Here we are rewarded with some of the best views Auckland has to offer. Back at St Heliers you can refuel the machine at St Heliers Bay Bistro before your day has truly started.

No need to be an professional athlete to complete this work out. Its great fun, a stunning way to start the day and you get to see the city from a new perspective.

Throughout the Volvo Ocean Race Auckland stop off, teams regularly did this for their fitness training.

Paddle: 4.8km each way

Run: 2.2km each way

Altitude gain: 271 meters

Approx return time: 4.5 hours
