COVID-19 Update

Covid-19 update 20/04/2020

What an adventure covid-19 has brought us over the past 4 weeks have been! We have been trying to keep the mind and body active in positive and productive ways. Some backyard camping and quality time with our families has helped.

Auckland Sea Kayaks is a small family owned and run business. We are celebrating our 10th year of business in 2020 and endeavor to see many more years kayaking the Hauraki Gulf.

Following the Level 3 & 4 lockdowns in New Zealand, we are planning to reopen for our guided tours from 12 May 2020, when level 2 is scheduled to be introduced.

We will be operating within the guidelines of Sport NZ, have extra hygiene measures in place and will maintain social distancing for both our clients and staff. Auckland Sea Kayaks operates small group sizes and offers the perfect opportunity to explore our backyards under alert level 2 – whilst remaining some level of control over our bubbles and who enters them.

To kick off the end of lock-down in style, we are offering 25% off:

Rangitoto Day Tour (Book Now)

Rangitoto Sunset Tour (Book Now)

Motukorea Browns Island ½ Day Tour (Book Now)

Use the promo code “SAVE25” when booking these products to receive the discount. Valid for all bookings and vouchers purchased up until 1 June, 2020.

As an outdoor and tourist focussed business we are hugely affected by this global  epidemic. International tourists account for ~ 60% of our business and with the predictions of what’s to come we are planning for the worst and hoping for the best. Luckily this hit towards the end of our season.

Though the future is a little more uncertain, we are positive it will work out and we will all come out stronger. We are fortunate that we have a strong domestic client base and look forward to strengthening and growing this further. With our guided tours, instructional courses and education programs we have diversity and a strong client base to see us through for at least another 10 years!

Until then, our guides are keeping very busy and entertained. Tom has been building his own skin-on-frame kayak in his parents garage (Kayak Build), Dan has been backyard camping, and Nicholas has been spending time with his family so enjoying the extended parental leave and time at home. We can’t wait to get back on the water and share the amazing islands of the Hauraki Gulf with you.

Until then – stay safe and stay home.
