Auckland Sea Kayaks specialises in creating educational programmes that align seamlessly with the New Zealand education curriculum, focusing on kayaking in Auckland.

Our kayak journeys are designed to be safe, fun, and educational, providing students with unique learning experiences outside the classroom. As a leading provider of education outside the classroom (EOTC), we offer programmes that meet the needs of many NCEA unit standards and assist teachers with student assessments.

Our comprehensive approach ensures that all our activities are engaging and educational. Auckland Sea Kayaks employs NZOIA-qualified staff, and operates as a Surfing New Zealand certified SUP school at our beach rental location with qualified SUP instructors. With years of experience teaching kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) to students of all ages, we are well-equipped to provide exceptional outdoor education programmes.

We offer customised learning programmes for both primary and secondary schools, making us Auckland’s leading water sport provider. Since 1986, we have been dedicated to delivering fun, educational, and safe programmes that focus on water safety and building confidence. Our programmes are built around the New Zealand curriculum and are grounded in the fundamental aspects of Health and Physical Education.

  • Safety Plans: All our programmes include externally audited and approved safety plans.
  • Qualified Staff: All activity leaders possess relevant, current skills and qualifications, including first aid certificates and NZOIA certifications.
  • Accreditations: We hold an OutdoorsMark Safety Audit Certificate and are New Zealand Tourism Qualmark Gold accredited.

Our extensive experience in outdoor education ensures that we can create effective and engaging learning experiences. Kids love being active, and we believe that having fun is one of the best ways for them to be receptive to learning. Our programmes focus on water safety and confidence-building, offering hands-on experiences that students can carry with them beyond the classroom.

EOTC Programmes:

Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) is an essential part of our offering. We design our programmes to provide students with opportunities to learn in natural settings, promoting both personal and educational growth. Our kayaking in Auckland programmes encourage students to engage with their environment, develop new skills, and gain a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems. By participating in our programmes, students enhance their physical fitness, teamwork, and leadership skills, all while enjoying the beauty of Auckland’s waterways.

NCEA and Curriculum Alignment:

Our programmes are specifically tailored to align with the New Zealand education curriculum, meeting the requirements of various NCEA unit standards. We work closely with teachers to ensure that our activities support their educational goals and help with student assessments. This collaborative approach ensures that students receive the maximum benefit from their time with us, integrating practical outdoor experiences with their classroom learning.

We have successfully partnered with many schools in the Upper North Island, including:

Specialised Programmes:

Our primary school programmes focus on introducing young students to the basics of water safety and kayaking, while our secondary school programmes delve deeper into skill development and environmental education. We also offer advanced programmes for students seeking to achieve specific qualifications or complete NCEA unit standards.
