We launch / start our tours from the St Heliers Central Boat Ramp, 384 Tamaki Drive, Auckland. Street car parking is available.

Where does the FREE city pickup depart from ?

A.

FREE city centre pick up from outside pier 1, Auckland Ferry Building located on Queens Wharf. This is the same location as the taxi stand and must be requested in advance.

What to bring?

What is provided on a kayak tour?

A.

We kit you out with all the specialist paddling gear including buoyancy aid , spray skirt, spray jacket, thermals, fleece and a dry bag for your camera.

Most Auckland Sea Kayaks tours are fully catered so when booking your tour, please tell us if you have any dietary requirements.

Car parking

A.

There is lots of FREE car parks at our launch location (384 Tamaki Drive). Any where around Vellenometh Green is free for 24 hours.

Bookings

A.

Space on our kayaking trips is limited, we recommend you book ahead to avoid disappointment. You can BOOK NOW fill out our enquiry form, call us (+64 9 213 4545) or send us an email at info@aucklandseakayaks.co.nz.

If booking on the telephone a credit card details are required at time of booking. This is to confirm the booking and no money will be taken from your card. The tour is paid to your guide and done by either cash, visa, Mastercard or EFTPOS.

What not to bring?

A.

The Islands in the Hauraki Gulf provide sanctuaries for native plants and animals. We want to keep it this way.

This is what you must to do to prepare for your trip:

• Check your bags for stowaways: mice, rats, Argentine ants and rainbow skinks.

• Ensure your footwear, clothing and bags are clean and free of soil and seeds.

• Pack your lunch in a rodent-proof container eg. hard plastic with lid.

• Make sure everything you bring is in a sealed or zipped closed bag.  Food must be packed into rodent-proof/sealed containers.  No open bags or boxes.

• Any camping or overnight gear must be thoroughly checked for pest stowaways.

Cancellations

A.

Due to the nature of our business and that we only work with small groups, cancellations affect us significantly and we apply a strict non-negotiable cancellation policy. We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance which covers all potential cancellation circumstances. A confirmed booking means that you and all members of your group have read, understood and accepted the conditions of our cancellation policy.

Auckland has a warm-temperate climate, with warm, humid summers and mild winters. It is the warmest main centre of New Zealand and is also one of the sunniest, with an average of 2060 sunshine hours per annum. Auckland has a 365 day kayak season. All four seasons of the year are great to kayak in and all offer their own special experience.

What are the kayaks made of?

A.

Each kayak is made from high quality supa-link polyethylene plastic to give it excellent shape and durability. All kayaks are expedition outfitted with a retractable rudder, sealed hatches, watertight compartments, bow charterholders, storage lines, carry toggles and a towline.

Risk Disclosure

Sea kayaking and camping have inherent risks and can be dangerous. Detailed risk management and strict safety procedures are observed; however there still remains an element of risk.
Auckland Sea Kayaks cannot absolutely guarantee participants' safety. Auckland Sea Kayaks accepts its legal responsibilities but cannot be held responsible for personal injury or for loss, theft or damage of/to your equipment outside legal responsibilities. Participants will be required to sign a liability form to this effect before starting a tour.
Changing conditions can mean that tours have to be modified. No two tours are the same. It is very rare but weather could delay your scheduled return by up to 24 hours, e.g. weather conditions preventing kayaking.
Clients on guided tours must listen carefully to and follow guides' instructions and adhere to safety requirements. Our reputation depends on your safety - we give it top priority and take it seriously. A comprehensive paddling and safety briefing is given before all tours depart. The guided trips also feature friendly on the water paddling instruction, safety management and natural history interpretation. We aim to teach you new skills and to help you have a great time out there, It's an awesome place and we do our best to ensure our approach to safety reflects our respect for it.

Restrictions

A.

Although we try and be as inclusive as possible it is important to remember safety is our number one priority. The guide must be able to lift/ assist a client back into a kayak if in the unlikely event that they capsize.

Clients must be made aware that they are required to in a kayak and paddle for up to 90 minutes without the possibility of getting out / stretching or take long breaks.

Our tours are in English and clients must be able to speak and understand English.

Cancellation Policy

A.

Auckland Sea Kayaks reserves the right to cancel or amend any tour due to road, water or weather conditions. If we have to cancel a tour due to such circumstances, you will receive a full refund. If the tour has started the tour can be changed due to safety requirements  at the guide's discretion.

CANCELLATIONS/AMENDMENTS BY YOU
Bookings cancelled within 48-hours of scheduled departure time are non-refundable.  Participants that fail to present themselves at the time of their booking (a no show) will forfeit 100% of their payment.

Bookings cancelled more than 48-hours before scheduled departure time are subject to a $25 cancellation charge per person and the balance shall be refunded.

CANCELLATIONS BY US

For the safety of our Participants, due to inclement weather or due to events beyond our control we may need to cancel a tour. We will use all reasonable endeavours to contact the Participant in sufficient time to notify of the cancellation. In the event that we cancel a tour the Participant will be offered either a full refund or a booking transfer to an alternative date and/or time. Auckland Sea Kayaks is not liable in any circumstances for any costs incurred by the Participant as a result of such a cancellation.

These terms are subject to rights and remedies you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 2003.

You will receive no refund:

1. Cancellations within 48 hours for any reason are non-refundable. 

2. If you miss the tour departure (e.g. sleeping late, unexpected illness or injury, vehicle breakdowns, etc);

3. If you do not turn up;

4. If we have to cancel the booking because of client unsuitability due to intoxication.
