Sea Kayak to Rangitoto at Sunset

Breathtaking views over Rangitoto on the blue water of the Hauraki Gulf.

A Sea Kayak to Rangitoto at dusk is one of the only ways to see Auckland’s amazing skyline at Sunset.

During the Spring, Summer and Autumn months, the nights are long and the sunsets are picture-perfect.

Why do we get such amazing sunsets?

As the sun sinks toward the horizon air molecules scatter away the shorter wavelengths of light (violet and blue) and the only light which penetrates through the atmosphere are the longer wavelengths of light (yellow, orange and red) which produce colourful sunsets.
