Staff adventures: Sydney to Hobart Yacht race

Over the festive season when many are eating and drinking to much, Auckland Sea Kayaks sea kayak guide Nic, decided to tackle one of yacht racing toughest event. The Rolex Sydney to Hobart is widely considered to be one of the most difficult yacht races in the world. The Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is an annual event starting in Sydney, New South Wales on Boxing Day and finishing in Hobart, Tasmania. The race distance is approximately 630 nautical miles (1,170 km).

12 crew members from around the world. Skippered by Sibby Ilzhofer.

No words can describe how awesome this was. Tackling 45 knot winds and 8m swell coming into Hobart last night. Choppers buzzing over heads, dolphins surfing our bow wave and escorting us home. What a moment to remember. #RolexSydneyHobart
