Hauraki Gulf Marine Spatial Plan – Sea Change
The Hauraki Gulf Marine Spatial plan known as Sea Change over the next two years we’ll be creating a marine spatial plan to safeguard the treasure of the Haurkai Gulf.
The approach to this construction of this plan in unique in the planning world. The project is led by a partnership between mana whenua (local Māori who have customary authority over the area), and central and local government.
Groups with interest and users of the gulf, including recreational fishing and boating, environmental and community, aquaculture, fishing, shipping and tourism will have an opportunity to participate.
The first forum was held on Friday 11th of October at the Auckland Museum with a very positive response.
