Sea Kayaking on Waiheke Island is the very best way to explore the stunning coastline and appreciate the island's beauty.<\/span><\/p>\n Waiheke Island is the jewel in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf. Home to historic sites, wildlife and diverse habitats, the island is an important part of New Zealand\u2019s landscape. Waiheke is the ultimate island retreat and sea kayaking is the best way to escape and unwind.<\/span><\/p>\n Trip highlights<\/span><\/p>\n Day 1.<\/b> Paddle from Onetangi to Huse Bay. 17.6km. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Catch the 7.10am ferry from downtown Auckland where your guide will meet you at Matiatia ferry terminal. From here we are transported to Onetangi Beach where we pack the kayaks for the next three days. Onetangi is a stunning place to start our adventure with 1,8km of white sand beach. We paddle east and have lunch in Cactus bay which is considered by Waihekeans as the island\u2019s best beach. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n After lunch we round Thumb point which is the most challenging section of the circumnavigation before heading south and rounding Kauri Point into the sheltered waters of Man O\u2019 War Bay and onto our campsite. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Day 2<\/b> Huse Bay to Whakanewha Regional Park. 18.5km<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n After breaking down camp we paddle the waters between Pakatoa, Rotoroa and Ponui Island before rounding the southern tip of Waiheke at Passage rock. This is a stunning and generally sheltered section of water with many local conservation projects underway. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n We have the opportunity to paddle past Te Matuku Bay oysters before heading to our camp spot at Waiheke\u2019s only regional park at Whakanewha. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Day<\/b> 3 <\/b>Whakanewha to Onetangi Beach. 22.2km<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n We paddle to the island\u2019s westernmost tip and around Te Roreomaiaea point. Church Bay is a stunning place for lunch before crossing Matiatia Bay, the island's busiest access point. The last section of the paddle is more populated with the last few kilometers passing by some of the island's most popular beaches, Oneroa, Palm Beach and onto Onetangi. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Notes on Itinerary<\/span><\/p>\n Although we do our very best to adhere to the schedule listed above, this itinerary is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control including weather and terrain conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n One glass of wine is included with evening meals and you are welcome to bring extra.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Price<\/span><\/p>\n Tour price $715 per person all inclusive. He is a qualified emergency medic and world-class white water paddler. Mo is always on an adventure, full of energy and one of the best kayak instructors in the industry. He is a senior kayak instructor at WERO, Auckland's artificial White Water Park, and is planning a full-length sea kayak trip of Fiordland in 2017. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n We are fortunate to have the talents and expertise of Logan on our team for the fourth year in a row. Logan is a born and raised Aucklander who started his love for the outdoors being a conservation park ranger for the Auckland Council many years ago. This experience lead Logan to pursue a full-time career in outdoor education and guiding. He has completed a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation focusing on Outdoor Education. As a keen sea kayaker, Logan has done many solo paddling expeditions including a solo unsupported circumnavigation of Great Barrier Island.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nic founded Auckland Sea Kayaks as he is passionate about the Hauraki Gulf, its natural beauty and the ability to have a great sea adventure so close to Auckland. He is seen most days in a kayak and after spending many years overseas he loves showing off his backyard to locals and tourists. <\/a> Daniel O'Connor is originally from Ireland and moved to Auckland in 2011. After road tripping around NZ in a campervan he found work with his engineering degree. Over two years were spent working on some of Auckland's iconic building's. The summer of 2014 saw him continuing his travels across Asia, Middle East, Europe and Scandinavia. Having spent the spring and summer month's working as a sea kayak guide in the fjords of Norway, he found his way back to Auckland for the summer. 2016\/17 will be Daniels second season guiding for Auckland Sea Kayaks. <\/p>\nJono Tan<\/h3>\n
<\/a>Jono Tan joined our team in 2016 and last winter in the USA (their summer) white water kayaking from North Carolina to California. He has a double degree in physics and chemistry and has decided a life in the outdoors at this stage of his life is for him. When not sea kayaking in the Hauraki Gulf he is either seen at WERO white water park or paddling a river. <\/p>\nAdam Sawyer<\/h3>\n
<\/a><\/p>\nSierra Stretton<\/h3>\n
<\/a>Sierra Stretton moved to Auckland in 2006 from Palmerston North to join the New Zealand Navy where she specialised in Communications and Radar. With the Defence Forces, Sierra got to travel the world with friends working in interesting places like the waters off Somalia and the Sub-Antarctic Islands. After 7 years, experiencing different adventures and cultures her love for the outdoors grew and she decided to make it her career.<\/p>\nAndy Ferrer <\/h3>\n
<\/a>Andy moved from the Isle of Man to Auckland, New Zealand and has have been paddling around the blue waters of the Hauraki Gulf for many years. When not paddling he enjoys Trail running and cycling. These sports have taken him to the Isle of Man, U.K, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus and New Zealand. He is also a Personal Fitness Trainer and a Club Leader with Canoe and Kayak.<\/p>\nHeidi <\/h3>\n
<\/a>Heidi is the current Taranaki Wave Classic Windsurfing Event champion two years in a row and in her free time guides our Duke of Edinburgh expeditions for high school students. Heidi has worked in many Outdoor education roles and we are very lucky to have her on the team over the past 5 years. <\/p>\nJulian Westerbecke<\/h3>\n
<\/a>Julian has come to Auckland Sea Kayaks as an intern and will focus his attention on Social Media Marketing, keeping our customer database up to date and works on company logistics and operations.
