    Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award

Your Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous journey is your first adventurous journey. Auckland Sea Kayaks has set up our program to maximise what you learn in the time over a weekend. We utilize the regional parks around the Hauraki Gulf to teach participants how to camp, navigate, and cook in the field while also enjoying activities such as tramping, paddle boarding or kayaking.

We have combined the Bronze training with the practice journey as we understand the importance of learning by doing. Pitching a tent or learning how to cook outdoors behind a computer screen is challenging. Our qualifying journeys take you to another location within the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park to learn and explore.

Bronze Training and Practice

We have combined the Bronze training with the practice journey as we understand the importance of learning by doing. Pitching a tent or learning how to cook outdoors behind a computer screen is challenging, so why not actually do them.

If you want to complete the Duke of Edinburgh training theory in a unique and interesting way, while learning about camp craft, navigation, environmental care, hiking and kayaking in the great outdoors, then this is the journey for you.

You can join one of our public journeys or if you have a group we can set up a custom journey date for you.

Bronze Training, Practice & Qualifying Journey

The bronze training, practice and qualifying adventurous journey combines all the elements required for your bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. With Auckland Sea Kayaks you can combine kayaking and tramping to make your journey fun and exciting.

We help you utilise the skills you have already learned to set up and run your first expedition. Unlike the training and practice, there is more responsibility for the participants to plan, prepare for the journey and take more ownership in how the journey is run. You are still supported by our qualified staff throughout the journey.

Vote for Fish of the Year!

This year, we're championing the Anchovy—did you know they're the eco-warriors fighting climate change in the Hauraki Gulf and beyond? By gobbling carbon and helping regulate oceanic climates, anchovies are the carbon-crushing champions we didn't know we needed. Saving the planet never looked so good! Auckland Sea Kayaks is pleased to be supporting the annual Fish of the Year | Te Ika o Te Tau competition with our friends @emr_nz and @waihekemarineproject

Our fish for this year is the humble Anchovy - while small and nimble like a sea kayak, they play a crucial role in marine ecosystems by acting as a primary food source for larger marine-life and seabirds.
